Scale Model (1:150), Forest Building
This is a Scale model (1:150). It was designed by TAO and Hua Li and made for Beijing Meijingtiancheng Investment Co., Ltd..
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from TAO as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.
Trace Architecture creates architecture that is inseparable from its environment. The Forest Building in Beijing uses rammed earth and wood found in nearby surroundings. The geometric posts and canopy resemble tree trunks and branches. The scale of these “trunks and branches” is proportional to the nearby trees and fits comfortably into its natural environment.
