Ring
This is a ring. It was designed by Giampaolo Babetto. It is dated 1995 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is gold with applied resin. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
The Padua School produced some of the most notable art jewelers of the late twentieth century. Giampaolo Babetto stands out as the pre-eminent figure among them, particularly for his exploriations of spatial relations and structures strongly influenced by the mathematical proportions found in Palladian buildings. Babetto used combinations of parallelograms to create dynamic counterpoints between the closed and open structure in this ring.
