Nobody's Perfect Chair

This is a chair. It was designed by Gaetano Pesce and manufactured by Zerodisegno. It is dated 2001 and we acquired it in 2004. Its medium is resin. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Several versions of Gaetano Pesce’s Nobody’s Perfect chair were featured in Cooper Hewitt’s National Design Triennial: Inside Design Now (2003–04). This version is proposed by curatorial staff for inclusion in the museum’s permanent collection. The chair displays experimentation with resin and shows the thought process involved in the creation of a functional form.
This chair would be a significant addition to our holdings of this major designer’s work, including three upholstered foam chairs from Pesce’s Up series of the 1960s (1990-94-4,5,13) and two examples of his poured resin objects—a wall clock (1997-90-2) and vase (1999-53-1). The chair also relates to a 1970s Pesce textile (2001-30-1).

This object was featured in our Object of the Week series in a post titled Imperfect Beauty .

This object was donated by Zerodisegno. It is credited Gift of Zerodisegno.
