"Full of the D" Matchsafe

This is a Matchsafe. It was manufactured by Gorham Manufacturing Company. It is dated copyrighted 1888 and we acquired it in 1978. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener. It is credited Gift of Stephen W. Brener and Carol B. Brener.

Its dimensions are

6.1 x 4.2 x 1.3 cm (2 3/8 x 1 5/8 x 1/2 in. )

It has the following markings

Lion passant, anchor, gothic letter "G", COPYRIGHT 1888, all stamped on front bezel. Lion's head, STERLING, 695, all stamped on reverse bezel.
