Spoon Spoon

This is a spoon. It was made by Nicolas Vautrin. It is dated mid-19th century and we acquired it in 1909. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. John Hobart Warren. It is credited Gift of Mrs. John Hobart Warren.

Its dimensions are

L x W x D: 17.9 × 2.8 × 2.1 cm (7 1/16 × 1 1/8 × 13/16 in.)

It has the following markings

In bowl interior: Minerva head indicating a fineness of .950 introduced on May 10, 1838. On exterior : Bigornes countermark introduced after 1838, also an obscured maker's mark. Reverse of stem: maker's mark: a diamond with a star above and below "NV", and another Minerva head.
