Lamp, from Multiplastica Domestica collection
This is a lamp. It was designed by Brunno Jahara.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Brunno Jahara as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.
Brunno Jahara’s collection Multiplastica Domestica began in 2012 when, passing by recycling center close to his studio, he noticed the vast stock of barely used plastic containers that had been discarded. Experimenting with this material, Jahara created usable containers and structures that unite sustainability, sculptural quality, and functionality. For this lamp, Jahara connects the plastic objects to a central metal spine in order to create an elongated and tiered arrangement that descends from the ceiling.
It is credited Museum purchase from designer.
