Bracelet
This is a Bracelet.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Anonymous as part of The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s.
This bracelet by Cartier of about 1925 was owned by Alice Appleton Hay, the daughter-in-law of John Hay, private secretary to President Lincoln. In 1917 Cartier opened a luxurious showroom in an Italian Renaissance–style mansion at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street in New York, attracting visiting royalty, celebrities, and well-heeled American shoppers.
