This is a Poster. It was designed by Marian Bantjes and printed by Design Commission, Seattle. It is dated 2007 and we acquired it in 2013. Its medium is screenprint on paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.
This poster, produced to advertise the annual conference of the Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA), was printed in two versions. A small format letterpress piece was mailed out to announce the 2007 Seattle meeting of SOTA; a larger screenprinted version was sold individually. In this design, Marian Bantjes plays with the contour of the three-dimensional letters to achieve a decorative, calligraphic effect.
