Pleated Fan (possibly USA)

This is a Pleated fan. It is dated 1850–1870 and we acquired it in 1997. Its medium is painted parchment leaf, drilled and pierced bone sticks, mother-of pearl washer and metal bail at the rivet. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Museum purchase from Eleanor G. Hewitt and Sarah Cooper-Hewitt Funds.
