Fragment (France)

This is a Fragment. It was produced by Saunier. It is dated 1750–1800 and we acquired it in 1996. Its medium is linen and its technique is resist block printed on plain weave; immersion dyed in indigo. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

Warp x Weft: 65.5 x 36 cm (25 13/16 x 14 3/16 in.) Repeat H: 229.5 cm (7 ft. 6 3/8 in.)

It is inscribed

"SAUNIER TINTURIER INDIENEUR A MACON" in a frame, resist printed on the back.
