This is a Textile. It was manufactured by F. Schumacher & Co.. It is dated 1930 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed by engraved roller on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
American luxury textile manufacturer F. Schumacher & Co commissioned celebrated French couturier Paul Poiret to create the company’s first collection of furnishing textiles by a major designer. A Schumacher advertisement for Poiret’s unique designs proclaimed, “Turn your house into a modern garden.” The stylized florals and vegetation, the rich red flowers, and the lively composition of this pattern recall Poiret’s influential Atelier Martine textiles of the 1910s and 1920s.
