Tile (USA)

This is a Tile. It was designed by Ruth M. Winterbotham and manufactured by United States Encaustic Tile Company and sitter: Walt Whitman. It is dated 1877–85 and we acquired it in 1986. Its medium is glazed stoneware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. Florence Barnes. It is credited Gift of Florence I. Balasny-Barnes.
