Vase (USA)

This is a vase. It was potter: Joseph Fortune Meyer and manufactured by Newcomb Pottery and decorated by Maria de Hoa LeBlanc. It is dated ca. 1901 and we acquired it in 1983. Its medium is glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Marcia Goodman and William Goodman. It is credited Gift of Marcia and William Goodman.

Its dimensions are

H x Diam: 16.2 x 16.2 cm (6 3/8 x 6 3/8 in.) Diam (top): 12.7 cm (5 in.)

It has the following markings

Paper label (red and buff) attached to bottom, with faint pencil notations.

It is signed

On bottom, underglazed, in blue brush: M.H.L. and B1 57.

It is inscribed

Impressed underglaze on bottom: conjointed JM, !, and NC cipher of N within C for Newcomb College.
