Sampler (USA)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Elizabeth Scull, American. It is dated 1838 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silk embroidery with beads on wool foundation and its technique is embroidered in cross, stem, buttonhole, and satin stitches on plain weave foundation; beads sewn on with half cross stitches. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer. It is credited Bequest of Gertrude M. Oppenheimer.
