Print, Interior and Exterior of the Olympic Theater, Near Drury Lane, London

This is a Print. It was designed by Jacob C. Schnebbelie and engraved by Thomas Cook. It is dated 1816 and we acquired it in 1977. Its medium is etching, hand colored. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

The Olympic Theater, Wych Street, Strand, formerly was Astley's Middlesex Amphitheater, which failed. The Olympic, too, was relatively unsuccessful under various managements until that of Madame Vestris, 1831–1839. The theater was demolished in 1890.

It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Freund.
