Vase (USA)
This is a vase. It was manufactured by Rookwood Pottery and decorated by Laura E Lindeman. It is dated 1902 and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is hand-painted and glazed earthenware. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Rookwood Pottery was one of the premiere art pottery firms in America, known for its impressive and skilled underglaze painting. Rookwood emphasized that it was first and foremost an artist’s studio, and not just a pottery manufacturer, by having its employees sign all work they participated in. This vase was decorated by Laura E. Lindeman, indicated by the “LEL” signature on the underside of the base.
