Pocketbook Pocketbook

At top of front reserve: [1] animal head in contoured reserve, possibly hare or crow, impressed (pseudo maker’s marks, Hanau) [2] lobed foliate elements in trefoil reserve, impressed (pseudo town mark, Hanau) At bottom of front reserve: [1] lion passant in lobed reserve, impressed (British standard mark) [2] “F” in oval, impressed (London import mark) At top of reverse reserve: [1] animal head in contoured reserve, possibly hare or crow, impressed (pseudo maker’s marks, Hanau) [2] lobed foliate elements in trefoil reserve, impressed (pseudo town mark, Hanau) At bottom of reverse reserve: [1] “J.S.” in rectangle, impressed (importer’s mark John George Smith, London) [2] letter “d” in rectangular reserve, impressed (London date letter mark 1899) [3] crowned leopard, stamped (London town mark) [4] lion passant in lobed shield, impressed (British standard mark) [5] “F” in oval, impressed (London import mark)
