Panel (possibly Russia), 19th century

This is a Panel. It is dated 19th century and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is silk, cotton and metal and its technique is there are two warps [one yellow silk, one grey or ivory silk], and two wefts [one yellow cotton, one ivory cotton]. there is an interesting interplay between the ground fabric and the ground fabric and the various brocaded metal-wrapped yarns. [the meta. It is a part of the Textiles department.
