This is a Infant's cap. It is dated mid-18th century and we acquired it in 1962. Its medium is silk and metal-wrapped silk thread embroidery on silk; linen backing and its technique is embroidered in stem, satin and knotted stitches using silk; stem, satin and couched work using metal-wrapped silk core yarns; plain weave foundation; bobbin lace trim. It is a part of the Textiles department.
