text from "Modern Flatware..." in Feeding Desire exhibition catalogue:
"In the early twentieth century, the Danish silversmith Georg Jensen pioneered an abstracted, yet naturalistic, vocabulary which helped set the course for Scandinavian modernism, as seen in patterns such as "Acorn", designed in 1915 (figs. 12-14). In the 1920's Jensen began comissioning work from other progressive designers from Denmark and beyond. The company continued to flourish after Jensen's death in 1935."
