Noh Robe (Japan)

This is a Noh robe. It is dated ca. 1800 and we acquired it in 1931. Its medium is silk, metallic yarns and its technique is discontinuous supplementary weft (brocading). It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Sarah Cooper Hewitt and Eleanor Garnier Hewitt. It is credited Gift of Eleanor and Sarah Hewitt, from the textile collection of Mrs. Abram Stevens Hewitt.
