Snuff Box

This is a Snuff box. It is dated 1823 and we acquired it in 1924. Its medium is horn and tortoise shell. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Mrs. James Roosevelt. It is credited Gift of Mrs. James Roosevelt in loving memory of Mrs. James O. Green.

Its dimensions are

H x diam.: 2.2 x 8.1 cm (7/8 x 3 3/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Base stamped with crown and monogram, circle of evenly spaced fleur de lis

It is inscribed

Inscription: "Boite Royale de France. Année 1823."
