Textile, Fruit
This is a Textile. It was designed by Hella Jongerius and co-designed by Maharam Design Studio and produced by Maharam. It is dated 2015 and we acquired it in 2018. Its medium is 100% polyester and its technique is jacquard woven. It is a part of the Textiles department.
At first glance, Fruit is a playful large-scale dot. But designer Hella Jongerius was preoccupied with form as it relates to motion, and through her experimentation with moving circles, developed this irregular oval form. Further depth is created through a layered grid of colors that extend beyond the boundaries of the circle at varied places, keeping the eye in constant motion.
