Book Illustration, Karl Gerstner: Color Sound 15, Color pattern
This is a book illustration. It was published by Galerie Denise René. It is dated 1973. Its medium is paper. It is a part of the Smithsonian Libraries department.
Swiss graphic artist Karl Gerstner has authored many books that illustrate his theories of typography, visual literacy and color. Karl Gerstner: Color Sound 15, the catalog for a 1973 exhibition at the Galerie Denise René in New York, includes a set of 12 vibrantly colored panels layered over a series of “T” shaped cut outs. The brilliance, placement, and blurred imagery of pigments of each plate gives the work a psychedelic quality. In this exhibition catalog, Gerstner explores relationships between sound and color, as well as the psychological aspects of color.
It is credited Collection of Smithsonian Institution Libraries.
