Jewelry Suite (probably France), ca. 1860

This is a Jewelry suite. It is dated ca. 1860 and we acquired it in 1928. Its medium is bright-cut engraved aluminum, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This suite of jewelry would have been very expensive when created; aluminum was new and costly to produce. By the time Mrs. Kissel donated these pieces to the museum, aluminum was commonly used for everyday objects.

This object was donated by Mrs. Gustav E. Kissel. It is credited Gift of Mrs. Gustav E. Kissel.
