Saltillo Serape (northern Mexico)
This is a Saltillo serape. It is dated ca. 1880 and we acquired it in 2014. Its medium is two-ply machine spun undyed cotton (warp); handspun undyed wool (brown and white), handspun indigo-dyed wool, handspun synthetic-dyed wool (weft) and its technique is weft-faced dovetail tapestry weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.
