Pendant Pendant Necklace
This is a Pendant Necklace. It was designed by Otto Künzli. It is dated 1986 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is picture frame fragment, wood, steel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
In this pendant, Künzli suspended a fragment of a picture frame on a fine steel cable, filling the place reserved for a gemstone with the normally unnoticed border that enhances a painting. The wearer now becomes the supporting background for the frame, thus reversing the expected hierarchy.
