Glassring Ring
This is a ring. It was designed by Herman Hermsen. It is dated 1986 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is silver, glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This unusual ring came about through Hermsen’s desire to use gems as structural elements rather than mere decoration. The ring has a T-shaped post that fits between and below the fingers. Without the large faceted glass “gem” the form would not be wearable.
