X Necklace And Stand

This is a Necklace and Stand. It was designed by Iris Eichenberg. It is dated 2014–2015. Its medium is oxidized nails, metal wire, silver, steel, wood, perspex. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Eichenberg, long fascinated by the human form, created a necklace with a suspended black head-like object whose textured surface is reminiscent of a face. When not being worn, this “necklace” rests on a stand consisting of a long thin rod and flat, polished base.

It is credited Promised gift to the Susan Grant Lewin Collection, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
