KV-4P1 Portable Television
This is a portable television. It was designed by Kawagoe Yoshinobu Nameki and Higashimurayama Shin Miyashita and manufactured by Sony Corporation. It is dated 1981 and we acquired it in 2016. Its medium is cast aluminum, glass, chrome-plated metal, molded plastic. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This personal, portable television is innovative for its size, form, and presentation. The hinge between the elongated aluminum body and base provides an adjustable viewing angle—a perfect product for home, desk, or car. While the “champagne gold” color contrasts with the colder gray of contemporary products, the machine-like aesthetic proclaims its functionality.
