Study, Dynamic Cube

This is a Study. It is dated 2016. Its medium is mdf, acrylic, and led. It is a part of the department.

“I often try to distill a sculpture for a performance into a singular gesture or form, using light, rotation, and movement to support a narrative unfolding onstage. Here, I envisioned an illuminated cube that could present a large-scale portrait of a performer while revealing the small human figure within. The cube could split and rotate, engaging with the performer, dancers, and audience.”

It is credited Courtesy of Es Devlin.

This object was previously on display as a part of the exhibition An Atlas of Es Devlin.
