West Wall Installation, Early Textile Collection
This is a West Wall Installation. It was after Ellen Lupton. It is dated 2022. It is a part of the department.
Textiles were the first objects collected by Sarah and Eleanor in their youth with their purchase of part of the James Jackson Jarvis (1818–1888) collection, and became the first objects incorporated into the museum's collection. Additionally represented here are selections from a large gift of rare textiles from J. P. Morgan in 1902. Historical as well as contemporary textiles remain a cornerstone of Cooper Hewitt's collection, holding approximately 26,000 pieces spanning 24 centuries.
It is credited Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
