Model #83 Serving Fork Fork
This is a fork. It was designed by Georg Arthur Jensen and manufactured by Georg Jensen Sølvsmedie. It is dated designed 1915–20, produced 1955–60 and we acquired it in 1986. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
text from "Modern Flatware..." in Feeding Desire exhibition catalogue:
"In the early twentieth century, the Danish silversmith Georg Jensen pioneered an abstracted, yet natrualistic, vocabulary which helped set the course for Scandinavian modernism, as seen in pattersn such as "Acorn", designed in 1915 (figs. 12-14). In the 1920's Jensen began comissioning work from other progressive designers from Denmark and beyond. The company continued to flourish after Jensen's death in 1935."
