Butter Spreader with Pointed End Knife
This is a knife. It was designed by Arthur J. Stone and manufactured by Arthur J. Stone and made by Charles S. Brown and Charles W. Brown, American, active 1912-1937. It is dated 1912–1937 and we acquired it in 1981. Its medium is silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

"In addition, there was a growing revival of eighteenth-century simplicity in England, as exemplified by the work of Crichton Brothers, and in teh United States by Arthur Stone (fig. 80), Gebelein, and others, especially in the Boston area. Concurrently, ARts and Crafts handcrafted flatware was occasionally produced from the same firms who worked in the revival styles, as well as by others who specialized in this movement, such as the Kalo workshops in Chicago (1904-20)."
