Overall: 13.5 x 8 x 2 cm (5 5/16 x 3 1/8 x 13/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Interior of body: 1)standard mark (lion, passant with number 2 in hexagon) (.833); 2) Bureau de garantie mark (helmeted head in a circle), on top; 3) DK and number 2 or 3 (in a square punch) stamped twice on base and once on lid. Inside cover: 2) and 3)

It is inscribed

Interior of cover inscribed: "Verneerd door het Stedelyk bestuur van Monnickendam, van Jan de Wit, voor de meest ter verkoop aangebragte Runderen op de Jaarmarkt den 26 April 1848."
