Page From Ackermann's "Repository Of The Arts, Science Etc," (England)
This is a Page from Ackermann's "Repository of the Arts, Science etc,". We acquired it in 1995. Its medium is f.) paper, cotton, silk. It is a part of the Textiles department.
German-born Rudolf Ackermann (1764–1834) was the publisher of Ackermann’s Repository of Arts, a monthly magazine surveying the latest fashions for interior decoration, furniture design and fashion. Published in London from 1809 to 1828, the Repository reported on what came to be known as Regency style. Reports on fashion were detailed and authoritative with commentary on all types of dress such as morning, carriage, opera, ball, and promenade costumes. Each month three to four swatches of fashionable fabrics were pasted on a page.
This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell.
