Sidewall, Flexuous

This is a sidewall. It was designed by Karim Rashid and manufactured by Wolf-Gordon Inc.. It is dated 2002 and we acquired it in 2004. Its medium is screen printed on vinyl. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department.

Flexuous is part of the Digital Nature line of computer-generated wallcoverings designed by Karim Rashid. Rashid is an internationally-known industrial designer and less well-known sculptor—the Digital Nature line is Rashid’s first venture into the field of wallcoverings. Rashid wanted to create complex, three-dimensional designs that would encourage the viewer’s eye to explore and find forms in the abstract patterns that relate to nature.
The museum holds works by Rashid, but Flexuous would be the first wallcovering by the designer to enter the collection.

This object was donated by Wolf-Gordon Inc.. It is credited Gift of Wolf-Gordon.

Its dimensions are

Overall: 289.6 x 141 cm (9 ft. 6 in. x 55 1/2 in.)
