"Medallion" Pattern Serving Spoon Spoon

This is a spoon. It was made by William Gale Jr.. It is dated ca. 1866 and we acquired it in 1999. Its medium is gold plated, silver. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

It is credited Museum purchase through gift of Katharine Cornell.

Its dimensions are

L x W x D: 21 × 5.4 × 4.2 cm (8 1/4 × 2 1/8 × 1 5/8 in.)

On reverse of handle, stamped: [1] WM Gale. Jr. [2] 925 [3] Sterling

It is inscribed

On reverse of handle, engraved: [1] monogram "L" in gothic font [2] 1866
