Model 28 Vacuum Cleaner
This is a Vacuum cleaner. It was designed by Henry Dreyfuss and manufactured by Hoover, Ltd.. It is dated 1947 and we acquired it in 1996. Its medium is bakelite (tm), cloth, metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Hoover worked closely with industrial designer Dreyfuss throughout the 1930s and 40s in order to update its products. Introduced in 1946, the Model 28 was the company’s second postwar vacuum model, and one of its most popular. It features a headlight in the Bakelite shell for greater visibility while cleaning. Over two million of this vacuum model sold from 1946 to 1950, the course of its manufacture.
