Textile, La Maison qui brule

This is a Textile. It is dated ca. 1785 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed by engraved copper plate on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Elinor Merrell. It is credited Bequest of Elinor Merrell.

Its dimensions are

Warp: 261 cm (103 in.). Weft: 100 cm (39 1/4 in.). Both selvedges present. Pattern: height of repeat: 101 cm (39 3/4 in.). Width of printing plate: 96.5 cm (38 in.) Designed so that when lengths were sewn together they would form a half-drop repeat.
