Seated Woman, from Peoples of Russia series Figure

This is a figure. It was designed by Pavel Kamensky and manufactured by Imperial Porcelain Manufactory. It is dated 1917–18 and we acquired it in 1995. Its medium is porcelain. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

This object was donated by Charlotte Y. Salisbury. It is credited Gift of the Estate of Harrison Salisbury.

Its dimensions are

27 x 16.5 x 21.5 cm (10 5/8 x 6 1/2 x 8 7/16 in. )

It has the following markings

On bottom: provisional government mark of porcelain factory (double-headed eagle in circle, 1917 below) in dark green underglaze; and hammer, sickle, cog, 1918 painted in blue overglaze. Also, incised mark (undeciphered). On side of base: P. Kamensky incised in Cyrillic.
