Ainu Robe (Northern Japan)

This is a Ainu robe. It is dated early 20th century and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed fabrics pieced in reverse appliqué technique, embroidered. It is a part of the Textiles department.

It is credited Museum purchase from Roy and Niuta Titus Foundation and Smithsonian Institution Collections Acquisition Program Funds.
