Chef De Piece (France)

This is a Chef de piece. It was company: J-D. Bridel et fils. It is dated 1810–1813 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is cotton and its technique is block printed on plain weave with separate blocks for red, blue and yellow. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Cora Ginsburg. It is credited Gift of Cora Ginsburg.

Its dimensions are

Warp: (maximum) 83 cm (32 3/4 in.). Weft: (5 pieces sewn together) 64 cm (25 1/4 in.) Pattern: Height of repeat: 30 cm (12 in.). Width not present in these fragments.

It has the following markings

Partial stamped impression at one end: "J-D.Bridel et Fils" in bob. Slight indication of a printer's identificationb mark in yellow.
