Chef De Piece, La Demande en Marriage

This is a Chef de piece. It was company: Petitpierre et Cie. It is dated ca. 1795 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is cotton and its technique is printed by engraved copper plate on plain weave. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was donated by Cora Ginsburg. It is credited Gift of Cora Ginsburg.

Its dimensions are

Warp x Weft: 49.5 x 71 cm (19 1/2 x 27 15/16 in.)

It has the following markings

Partial stamp at bottom; "..pierre et Com...Nantes Bon...nt D57" within parallel lines, a wavy line on red background, and "JP" withing a box (last mark very smudged).
