Oun Desk Tray

This is a Desk tray. It was designed by Massimo Vignelli. It is dated 1987 and we acquired it in 1994. Its medium is rubber, metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Vignelli was a versatile designer who worked within the Modernist tradition across media ranging from packaging, housewares, and furniture design to public signage. His designs focused on simplicity through the use of basic geometric forms, favoring utility over decoration. This desk tray, for holding or sorting papers and letters, exemplifies the simplicity of Vignelli’s wares. The trays slide out from their holder, making it easy to organize papers.

It is credited Gift of Arango Design Foundation.
