Flashlight (Thailand)
This is a flashlight. It is dated ca. 1970–85 and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is chrome-plated metal. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
The development of explosion-proof flashlights and lanterns in the late 1930s, and the huge demand for them during World War II, helped create a market for industrial flashlights in the years following the war. Rayovac launched its famous steel Sportsman flashlight in 1949. This model is a later version of the Sportsman, with a chrome-plated metal case instead of the heavier steel of the original.
