Vase Vase
This is a vase. It was designed by Ilonka Karasz and manufactured by Paye & Baker Manufacturing Company. It is dated ca. 1928 and we acquired it in 1993. Its medium is silver plated, nickel. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
Ilonka Karasz developed the idea of using one form and adapting it by adding new elements to it. This cone-shaped object is thus changed by the addition of four triangular planes forming a cross at the base. In fact, Karasz tried to create objects featuring various planes and smooth surfaces.
It is credited Museum purchase from Decorative Arts Association Acquisition and General Acquisitions Endowment Funds.
