Model 666WSP Side Chair Side Chair
This is a Side chair. It was designed by Jens Risom and manufactured by Knoll Associates, Inc.. It is dated 1943 and we acquired it in 1991. Its medium is wood, cotton (webbing). It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
This side chair was one of the fifteen pieces designed by Jens Risom included in Knoll’s first catalog, in 1942. Risom’s spare, simple designs influenced by his native Scandinavia helped transform Knoll into a leading contemporary furniture manufacturer at an unlikely time, during World War II. For this chair, with few pieces and simple construction requirements, Risom used non-wartime-critical softwoods and surplus military cloth that was bleached and dyed.
