Model 72PSB Side Chair
This is a Side chair. It was manufactured by Knoll International. It is dated 1948 and we acquired it in 1991. Its medium is steel, vinyl, nylon, woven wool upholstery. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.
After winning MoMA’s “Organic Design in Home Furnishings” competition in 1941 with an armchair designed in collaboration with Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen went on to modify the form to create furniture designs for Knoll. This side chair, a component of the 72 Series, was part of Knoll’s first office seating program, designed to create a unified workspace interior. A variation of this side chair is still produced by Knoll today.
