Vase Vase

This is a vase. It was attributed to Christopher Dresser and decorated by Minton's Art Pottery Studio and manufactured by Mintons and Minton Ceramics Manufactory. It is dated 1871-1875 and we acquired it in 1990. Its medium is hard paste porcelain, vitreous enamel, gold. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Minton’s Art Pottery Studio was established in Kensington Gore, London, where Christopher Dresser and other notable Aesthetic Movement artists painted Mintons’ pottery and tiles by hand. Dresser served as an advisor to Minton & Co./Mintons from the early 1860s by which time the factory’s design studio possessed books of Japanese prints of flowers and birds.

It is credited Museum purchase from Decorative Arts Association Acquisition Fund.
